Christoph Declara was born in Rosenheim, Germany, and debuted at the age of 14 with Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5. Since then, he has been playing with various orchestras in his home country as well as abroad, among them The New York Concert Artists Orchestra, KlangVerwaltung Munich, Hofer Symphoniker, Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the University Mozarteum Salzburg. He performed under the baton of Dennis Russell Davies, Enoch zu Guttenberg, Roger Boggasch, Eduard Zilberkant and others. He played recitals and chamber music in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Poland.

Christoph Declara started his professional musical education at the university Mozarteum in Salzburg with Professor Christoph Lieske. He completed his master studies under the supervision of Professor Pavel Gililov and graduated with distinction. From 2010 until 2017 he has taught as Professor Gililoiv’s assistant at the Mozarteum, in 2012/2013 also at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. In 2016 he successfully completed his artistic habilitation and is currently teaching his own piano class at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He was invited to participate in juries and to hold masterclasses in Kosovo and China.

Christoph Declara was awarded prizes at national and international competitions, among them the “International Johannes Brahms Competition” in Pörtschach, Austria.

In January 2010, Christoph Declara debuted at the Salzburg Mozart. In the same year, his first CD titled “Debüt” was published by festivo records containing works of Johannes Brahms and Sofia Gubaidulina. FonoForum, the leading German magazine for classical music, reviewed the album with 5 out of 5 stars for both sound quality and musical interpretation. Also in 2010, the rural district of Rosenheim awarded Christoph Declara the cultural sponsorship prize. His second CD containing works by Brahms and German contemporary composer Roland Leistner-Mayer was published in 2013.
